Mr. Povazhniuk was born in the village of Buzivka, Zhashkivskyi district, Cherkaska oblast.

He graduated from the National Agrarian University with a degree in agriculture (1996).

From June 1996 to July 1998, he worked as an agriculturist at Railing, a state company.

From August 1998 to July 1999, Sergey Povazhniuk was an expert at Ukrainian Industry Expertise.

From July 1999 to January 2007, he held the position of head of the information department of SE Ukrainian Industry Expertise.

Since January 2007, he has been vice-director for development issues.

Sergey Povazhniuk is married and has two children.
